Everyone needs a break and, honestly, it can be quite lonely here. The other residents are fairly local and have social lives in Virginia. We did go out for dinner last week as a group which was great…a little place called the Fishin’ Pig. This weekend I decided to head to Fredericksburg to visit family and to attend the First Annual Pottery Throw Down which I think was very successful! The city has really blossomed with art in these past many years. Some people have been there since I was a kid, like Dan Finnegan. I like his sculptural style and now can enjoy his work while I eat my morning cereal. Then I got to do something rare but very special to me, family cookout. Dogs-both edible and pet-able, mom’s potato salad, both siblings, marshmallows and fire! An all around excellent respite from the quiet life. Glad this is just 3 hours away.

Mary Washington College Students and Alums! Interesting things afoot in that department!
